Suspected Boko Haram members confessed to killing of policemen in Niger – CP

Desire Nsirim

Some suspected members of the Boko Haram sect, who were recently  arrested in Minna, the Niger State capital,  by the police in connection  with  two bomb factories in Maitumbi and Tunga in Bosso and Chanchaga Local Government Areas of the state,  have  confessed to the killing of policemen in the state.
Mrs Nsirim made the disclosure in an interactive session with the management staff of the state Ministry of Livestock/Fisheries, led by its commissioner, Dr Isah Yahaya  Vatsa, during her familiarisation tour of the ministry.
She further disclosed  that the suspects had since been transferred    from the Force headquarters in Abuja.
“Our decision not to   mention  the exact  number of the hoodlums so far  arrested  in connection with the bomb factories and not to parade them before newsmen or exhibit the dangerous items recovered from the scence of crime is hinged on the security implications. We are also still in search of a vital information as regards the criminal activities  of the suspects in the state prior to their arrest,” she said.
Nsirim further stated that the recent donation of 50 patrol vans installed with communications gadgets by the Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu-led administration in the state  had  been enhancing the performance of the command.
