15 die in Delta auto crash

Delta State command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) on Tuesday, confirmed 15 persons dead in a ghastly motor accident which occurred at Abavo, along Agbor-Abraka road at the weekend.
State Sector Commander, Mrs Susan Ajenje, told the Nigerian Tribune that the passengers included seven men, five women and three others, who were burnt beyond recognition.
It was gathered that a 18-seater mini bus coming from the Urhonigbe Market, had a head-on collision with a J5 bus with registration number XY 107 JJJ, coming from Agbor end.
The J5 bus driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was said to have been on top speed and in the process, ran into a pot hole which burst the bus’ tyre. As a result, he lost control of the vehicle and finally rammed into the mini bus said to be carrying traders.
Following the collision, the two vehicles went up in flames, burning 14 of the passengers, including the J5 driver beyond recognition, while the boy, who was flung out of the mini bus, sustained serious injuries and later died in a hospital.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that it took sympathisers several hours to evacuate the burnt bodies.
The FRSC boss, Mrs Agenje, blamed most accidents on dangerous driving and overspeeding.
