Babalakin at EFCC, trial begins tomorrow

EMBATTLED chairman of Bi-Courtney Highway Services, Dr Wale Babalakin, made an appearance at the Lagos office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday night, preparatory to his arraignment tomorrow.
A source in the commission disclosed on Tuesday that “he reported in the office (EFCC’s office) last night,” but refused to confirm if he was detained.
When asked how the accused would be made to appear in court in Lagos tomorrow for arraignment, the source said “I know we are set for the trial.”
The commission will, tomorrow morning, arraign him before a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja over an alleged N3.4 billion money laundering saga.
The trial judge is Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo.
Prosecution counsel, Mr Rotimi Jacobs, confirmed the planned arraignment to the Nigerian Tribune.
Babalakin is facing a 27-count charge along with Alex Okon, Stabilini Visioni Limited, Bi-Courtrney Limited and Renix Nigeria Limited.
