FBI hunts Grandpa Bank Bandit
The Houston FBI Bank Robbery Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an older man who walked out empty handed after robbing the J.P. Morgan Chase Bank located at 1102 Silber Road in Houston, Texas, earlier today. Photographs depicting the man during the robber are at the end of this press release. At approximately 11:52 a.m., the man walked into the bank and handed the teller a threatening note demanding money. The teller did not turn over any cash. The man appeared nervous and exited the bank quickly. He was seen leaving the area driving a maroon 1994 Dodge four-door vehicle with license plate number 160-TWN. No one was physically hurt during the robbery.
The “Grandpa Bandit” was described as a white male; in his 60s, about 6’0” tall with a medium build; and short, graying hair with a gray beard. He wore large-framed eyeglasses and a short-sleeved, light blue-button down shirt during the robbery.
Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the charging and arrest of this robber. If you have information about this case, please call the Crime Stoppers tip line at 713-222-TIPS (8477) or the Houston Office of the FBI at 713-693-5000.
