IGP Risks Jail Over Alleged Contempt



A former senator representing Anambra North senatorial district, Alphonsus Igbeke, has commenced contempt proceedings at a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja seeking to commit the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar , to prison for refusing to release his (Igbeke’s) vehicle in alleged breach of court order.
Senator Igbeke filed Form 48, which is a notice of consequence of disobedience of a court order; a pre-condition for a full hearing of a committal proceedings against the Inspector General of Police.
Besides the Inspector General of Police, Demola Fosat and Abdullahi Mohammed were named as co-defendants.
