The Federal Government is to carry out a review of Nigeria’s Defence Attache management and security system in order to confront contemporary security challenges facing the country while at the same time, observing budgetary constraints which has impacted negatively on their activities.
Minister of State for Defence, Chief Olusola Obada, disclosed this at the opening of a week-long Defence Advisers conference in Abuja.
She noted that, “the various efforts of the Federal Government to find lasting solution to the security challenges in the country, particularly the increased attacks on innocent citizens and security agents by the Boko Haram sect, is a clear indication of our commitment to lasting peace and security in the country.”
Continuing she said, “the current security situation in Nigeria demands that all hands must be on deck to put a stop to the increased activities of miscreants bent on destabilising the country. This also means that the various security agencies in the country have to be more alive to their responsibilities.
“There is, therefore, the need for increased cooperation, collaboration and synergy among all security outfits if we are to preserve our peace and create at atmosphere that will attract foreign investors to the country,” she added.
Earlier, Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General Sani Yakubu Audu, explained that the annual conference served as an opportunity to discuss issues in the collective efforts at realising the present administration’s transformation agenda.
