Insecurity: Jonathan says investors have nothing to fear

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday told foreign investors who might have interest in the Nigerian market not to be discouraged by the security challenges in the country.
He said his administration had made significant progress in meeting the challenges.
Jonathan spoke while receiving the new Ambassador of Switzerland to Nigeria, Mr. Hans-Rudolf Hodel, who was at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to present his letter of credence.
“We are making significant progress in meeting our recent security challenges and we shall continue to improve; so, investors have nothing to fear,” he assured.
The President, who received three other ambassadors at different ceremonies, urged them to encourage more business delegations from their countries to visit Nigeria.
“Nigeria is a huge market with many green areas waiting for investors. I urge you to prepare the ground for more robust economic relations between our countries,” he said.
Jonathan told the new Egyptian Ambassador, Mr. Ashraf Salama, that the two countries had a crucial role to play in the African Union, especially because of their strategic locations and population.
Salama told the President that he was impressed by the vast opportunities in Nigeria, and expressed his determination and commitment to improving trade and other mutually beneficial relations with his host country.
The other new ambassadors are Mr. Svante Kilander of Sweden and Dr. Joachim Oppinger of Austria.
