Massive shake-up in Nigerian Airforce


FOLLOWING the appointment of new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and service chiefs last month and the consequent release of promotions last week, the Nigerian Airforce has effected a massive shake-up in all strata of the service.
As a result of this, four new air officers commanding (AOCs) were appointed to all the four commands of the Nigerian Airforce (NAF).
They are Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Tactical Command, Makurdi, Air Vice Marshal K. Onyemobi; AOC Training Command, Makurdi, Air Vice Marshal Ishaku Umar; AOC Mobility Command, Yenagoa, Air Vice Marshal Olufemi Abiodun Idowu and AOC Logistics Command, Lagos, Air Vice Marshal Aminu Adamu.
Also, the Nigerian Tribune gathered authoritatively that seven air vice marshals (AVMs) had proceeded on terminal leave, pending their retirement in January.
Informed sources also revealed that Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Kure, former Chief of Administration, NAF Headquarters, had been appointed as the new Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, while the former Managing Director of NAF Post Housing Scheme, Air Vice Marshal Moses Akinsanmi, move to Lagos as the Commandant, Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, Oshodi.
Also, the former Director of Administration, Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Air Vice Marshal Nicholas Spiff, moved to NAF Headquarters as Chief of Administration; AVM A. Ossim moved to NAF Headquarters as Chief of Aircraft Engineering; AVM A.A. Ogunaike became Chief of Policy and Plans; AVM D.S. Dilimono became the new Chief of Train and Operations (CTOP), while AVM Wakil Ahmed moved to Mobility Command as SASO.
Also affected were Commodore Emeka Ozemena, who moved to NAF Station, Jos, while Commodore Chukwuma Mojekwu became the new Managing Director, NAF Post Housing Scheme.
