Murder in Ilford

Description

Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses following a murder in Ilford.
Police were called at 03.17hrs on Saturday, 3 November, to reports of a stabbing in Ley Street, Ilford, on the forecourt of a Shell petrol station next to the Bell public house.
Police and London Ambulance Service attended the scene to find a man suffering stab wounds. The 29-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers believe they know the identity of the deceased, but await formal identification and confirmation that next of kin have been informed.
A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.
Detectives from the Homicide & Serious Crime Command are investigating. An incident room has opened at Barking under DCI John Sandlin.
DCI Sandlin said: "I am keen to hear from anyone who saw a blue Ford Focus, registration number EJ57 OED, in the Ilford area on Friday, 2 November, or in the early hours of Saturday morning.
"We believe that two women got out of the Ford Focus while the altercation was occurring. I need to trace those women.
"I also wish to speak with anyone who had been in The Bell pub that evening as well as anyone who saw the altercation at the Shell petrol station."

Police recovered the blue Ford Focus at the scene.
Officers retain an open mind as to any motive at this stage.
There has been no arrest.
