Journalists endangered species:Ogun LG boss thugs beat up Tribune, Punch journalists

Hell was let loose at the headquarters of Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State on Wednesday as workers and two journalists were beaten up by suspected thugs of the council chairman, Mrs Funmilayo Efuwape.
The two journalists, Olayinka Olukoya of the Nigerian Tribune and Segun Olatunji of the Punch were at the secretariat to cover the pandemonium that erupted as a result of the attack on the council workers on the alleged order of the council chairman.
The journalists were forced into the office of the chairman for daring to take pictures of the deserted secretariat and forced to delete the pictures on their blackberry phone and camera.
The duo of Olukoya and Olatunji had approached the council chairman for her official reaction over allegation levelled against her that she invited some thugs and suspected student cultists into the council secretariat on Wednesday morning.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that trouble started when the council chairman led some thugs into the council premises following the demand by the council workers that a councillor representing Ward 9, Ode-Lemo/Emuren, Honourable Sunday Arode, should be suspended from office for injuring one Miss Abidemi Awoyomi on Monday.
