Politician stabs girl for turning down his love advances

A former local government counselor, Amuwo-Ofin Local Government Area, identified simply as Babatunde, is presently being quizzed by homicide detectives at the area ‘F’Command, Festac, Lagos State, over the attempted murder of an 18-year-old club girl at the Festac area.
The light situation between Babatunde and the victim, Mariam Abubakar, which started off as a love play at the Pearl Harbor Nite club, inside Rochester Garden Hotel, snowballed into an ugly situation, when Mariam repeatedly turned down the sexual advances of the former politician.
Apparently angry over her rebuff, Babatunde was alleged to have snatched up a bottle of beer, smashed it and plunged the bottle neck into the throat of the girl.
The incident which happened at about 1:30am was said to have forced other clubbers to scamper out of the club, for fear of possible arrest by police.
A police source claimed that Babatunde thought Mariam had die and had quickly hightailed out of the joint.
The girl had since been discovered to be a mere secondary school girl. The reason for her being in a night club, when she ought to be sleeping at home, is yet unknown. Her parents had also been notified. Her father had  been insisting that he does not want to press charges, but police stressed that attempted murder, was beyond a case which could be swept under the carpet.
When Babatunde bolted out of the club, like the hounds of hell were after his hide, he had allegedly ran to Ikoyi, planning to leave Nigeria.
A police detective added: “It was a good Nigerian citizen that called us, alerting us that a young girl had been stabbed. It was also that Good Samaritan that took the girl to the hospital. He took her to Navy Hospital, in Satellite town. When we rushed to the hotel, we were shocked to see everywhere so clean. You wouldn’t know that something bloody happened in the hotel. We later discovered that rather than call the police about the incident, the hotel had quickly mopped up the blood, thus disturbing and destroying a crime scene. They might be charge as an accessory to murder if the girl dies or even for attempted murder along with the counsellor.”
Before Mariam was taken to hospital, witnesses claimed she had lost a lot of blood and became unconscious.
Police moved her from the Navy hospital to Ajeromi General Hospital, where doctors allegedly helped her to regain consciousness.
