Recall sacked 155 OOU lecturers now, ASUU tells Amosun

ASUU President
ACADEMIC Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has called on Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state to recall over 155 lecturers unjustly sacked at the Olabisi Onabanjo University without delay.

This was part of the communique issued at the end of the meeting of Ibadan Zone of ASUU, comprising University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, Lagos State University, Tai Solarin University and Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

In the communique, signed by the Zonal Coordinator, Dr Adesola Nasir, ASUU noted with dismay the foot-dragging approach on the recall of the lecturers by governor Amosun despite assurances given to the ASUU national delegation which had visited him.

The union also called on the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) governor to constitute the Governing Council for the Tai Solarin University of Education for the sake of good governance, while also advocating a fast reversal of the excruciating fees being charged in many of the state universities in the South West.

To ASUU, the high tuition fees being charged by the ACN-controlled governments in the South West was a deliberate step towards denying many able youths University education, and thereby blight their future.
On the lingering fuel scarcity in many states of the federation, the union said it would join Nigerian masses "to resist the subtle, but surreptitious attempt to increase the pump price through unwarranted and artificial scarcity in the country".
