Supermarket armed robbers sentenced


A gang of armed robbers were sentenced on Friday, 2 November, at Isleworth Crown Court for holding up a supermarket in Ealing.
At 21.50hrs on 23 February, two men entered the Co-operative supermarket on Greenford Avenue, W7. One of the men threatened staff with a silver revolver handgun while his accomplice directed them to place all the money from the till into his plastic bag.
"The fast thinking and keen eye of officers ensured that these men have been brought to justice."
The men made off from the shop and police were called. Officers were able to view the CCTV and speak to shop staff, who provided a good description of the suspects.
At 22.25hrs on 23 February, barely half an hour after the raid, officers responding to the incident noticed a white Audi driving out of Kennedy Road with four male passengers in the car, two of whom matched the descriptions of the suspects.
Officers stopped the cab and found a silver revolver handgun in a plastic bag. The men were arrested on suspicion of the robbery.
All four men were charged with conspiracy to rob the Co-Op and possession of an imitation firearm.
On 17 August, Ahmed Sufi pleaded guilty at Isleworth Crown Court to conspiracy to rob and possession of an imitation firearm.
On 4 September, immediately prior to the commencement of their trial, Mursal Yahye, Khalid Farah and Abdi Rizak Mohammed Abdullah all pleaded guilty to the same offences.
[A] Mursal Yahye, aged 23 (12.5.89) of Maple Road, Hayes was sentenced to three years imprisonment for conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.
[B] Ahmed Sufi, aged 23 (5.1.89) of Belgrave Road, E17 was sentenced to three years six months for conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.
[C] Khalid Farah aged 21 (8.4.91) of Old Oak Common Lane, W3 sentenced to two years six months for conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.
[D] Abdi Rizak Mohammed Abdullah, aged 21 (10.10.91) of 13 Hitherbroom Road, Hayes was sentenced to five years for conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.
Detective Chief Inspector Harry Hennigan said: "The fast thinking and keen eye of officers ensured that these men have been brought to justice."
