Uduaghan raises the alarm over kidnapping, bunkering


DELTA State governor, Dr Emmanuel Udaghan, on Sunday, raised the alarm over the rising spate of kidnapping and illegal bunkering in the state and urged the army to rise to the challenges.
The governor, speaking when the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Azubike Ihejirika, visited him in Asaba, said though the army had been rising to the challenges, a lot more are still needed to be done.
He said one of the major objectives the army was to assist the state is achieving peace and security, assured that the state would not hesitate in doing what it could to assist the army to perform optimally.
Earlier in his remark, Lieutenant-General Ihejirika had told the governor the essence of the annual conference holding in his domain, adding that the ongoing attack in the country by the Islamic sect was part of the reason for the conference.
“The Chief of Army Staff Conference provides opprtunity for the Nigerian Army to take stock of all its activities in the year and to discuss challenges and way forward,” he said.
The army chief commended the governor for building classrooms blocks for Army School in Warri and also the jetty for the army to checkmate illegal bunkerers and piracy in the waterways, while he urged him to do more to assist the military.
