Will unveils Ojukwu’s secret child

FINALLY, the chicken has come home to roost. And the truth about the seeds sewn by Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu (Ikemba, Ezeigbo Gburugburu), are emerging.

Even his darling and beloved wife, Bianca, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, could not believe her ears yesterday morning when a lady she had never heard of was recognised in the great Ikemba's will and bequeathed with one of the late leader of Nd'Igbo's main property, a hotel.

In the will presented by Dennis Ekoh, the Chief Registrar of Enugu High Court, the late Ezeigbo Gburugburu, who died November 26, 2011, aged 78, identified one Tenny Haman among his children. Ojukwu listed his children as Tenny Haman, Chukwuemeka Jnr, Mmegha, Okigbo, Ebele, Chineme, Afam and Nwachukwu.

The leader of the defunct Biafra willed Jubilee Hotel, Zaria, Kaduna State to Tenny Haman.

Reacting to the development, Ikemba's widow, Bianca, said she was shocked at the disclosure that her late husband had a daughter whom, according to her, he never disclosed to her.

She however, expressed satisfaction with the will, which favoured her. According to The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) she said: “It was a fair will. This time round, he did not disappoint us.”

Reading of the will was witnessed by Bianca along with, Ojukwu’s first cousin Mr. Val Nwosu and Mr. Mike Ejemba. None of the children was present at the presentation of the will.

In the will, Ojukwu, gave the palatial Casabianca Lodge on No. 7, Forest Crescent, GRA, Enugu, two property at Jabi and Kuje in the FCT Abuja and all his money and personal effects to Bianca.

The late Head of State of the defunct Republic of Biafra also gave Bianca two plots of land in his home town, Nnewi, Anambra State but with a clause that if she re-marries, the land should be taken away from her. He equally directed that Bianca should replace him as the trustee in the family's company, Ojukwu Transport Ltd.

Close sources cite Chief Sylvester Debe Ojukwu, believed to be Ojukwu’s first son, as the biggest loser. He, reportedly, was not recognised in the will, in which Emeka Jnr. got the family house in Nnewi. Other landed property in the village were shared among all his children.

Ikemba listed Bianca, Emeka Jnr. and Mr. James Chukwuneme as the trustees and executors of the will.
