THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kogi State has confirmed the
death of six persons in an accident which occurred on Tuesday on the
Lokoja-Abuja road.
The state FRSC Sector Commander, Mr Garba Mohammed, said in Lokoja that the accident occurred in Karara village at 11.10 a.m.
He
said the accident involved a Toyota Corolla car with registration
number Lagos GGE 204 EKY, and a Toyota Hiace bus with registration
number Lagos FKJ 634 XB.
Mohammed said 10 persons were involved
in the accident, adding that four victims were seriously wounded and
rushed to Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja for medical attention.
The commander disclosed that the corpses of the dead, comprising two men and four women, were deposited at the hospital.
He
blamed the accident on dangerous overtaking and over-speeding on the
part of the two drivers and advised motorists plying the road to always
adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
NAN recalls that a
woman was killed in an accident on the road on Monday, while five others
were also seriously injured in the accident.
