Body of missing man, 64, found in river



A 64-year-old man, Kwagher Ataver who went missing two weeks ago was yesterday found dead in a river in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State. Daily Sun gathered that family members of the deceased had raised the alarm over his sudden disappearance from his home at Abiem village in Gwer when nobody knew where he had gone to.
Consequently, family members were said to have informed local churches in his immediate environment including a section of the media. A search party comprising youths from the village was also organised to find him, to no avail as Ataver’s whereabouts remained unknown until his body was found afloat the Yagbede River in the Abiem community by a local hunter on hunting expedition.
The hunter, Msughve Ayua, who expressed shock over the incident said he alerted members of the community immediately about his findings to enable the family retrieve the body for burial. Some members of the community who pleaded anonymity told newsmen that Ataver had allegedly gone insane recently and his family was concluding arrangement to take him for medical attention at the time of his sudden disappearance.
When contacted, State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Daniel Ezeala, a deputy superintendent of police said he was yet to be briefed on the matter.
