Borno: 1 soldier, 13 Boko Haram members killed in gun battle

The Joint Task Force on Operation Restore Order in Borno, said that it lost one of its men during an operation in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, at about 4.00 p.m hours today.
A statement from the office of the spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Sagir Musa, who disclosed this to newsmen in Maiduguri, revealed that JTF had an encounter with Boko Haram terrorists at Bulabulin and Bayan Quarters in Maiduguri.
According to the statement, during the encounter, JTF lost one of its men with two wounded while 13 Boko Haram terrorists were killed in the encounter.
According to the statement, civilians were well protected during the encounter as no casualty was recorded, adding that the operation was ongoing in the bid to apprehend the fleeing members of the sect, in order to recover more weapons.
It also said that three AK 47 rifles, one rocket propelled grenade, ammunition and IED materials were recovered during the encounter.
Meanwhile, stop and search of vehicles and persons is ongoing in Maiduguri, following the gun duel between JTF and the sect members.
Also an unconfirmed report said the sect had broken a jail around Muna  garage releasing some prisoners believed to be their members.
