Strongman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and party’s
presidential candidate in the last general election, Major-General
Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has urged Nigerians to ensure that they adhere
strictly to the laws of the country concerning importation and storage
of explosive materials in their environment.
Buhari, who was sad over the unfortunate fire caused by explosives in
Lagos during the Yuletide, said in a statement he signed and issued to
newsmen in Kaduna on Wednesday that people should adhere to such laws
as a way of forestalling future occurrences of such fire outbreak.
The former head of state condoled with the Lagos State governor,
Babatunde Fashola, on the recent fire outbreak at Jankara Market in
Idumota area of the state and expressed sympathy to the victims and the
entire people of Lagos State.
According to Buhari, “I am writing on behalf of my family and
supporters to convey to you our heartfelt grief and sympathy on the
terrible fire outbreak at Jankara market, Idumota.
“I am greatly saddened by the loss of lives and property. Please,
convey to the victims and the entire people of Lagos State our sympathy
for their grievous losses.”
