Corpse of drowned fisherman recovered in Osun

The corpse of an unidentified fisherman, who drowned at Osun River in Gbodofon, along Gbongan-Ibadan road, Osogbo, on Friday, has been recovered.
A statement by a Director in the state Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Dapo Ajayi, said the fisherman drowned during a fishing expedition.
According to the statement, security agents made efforts to recover the corpse but did not succeed.
An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said she saw the fisherman slip into the river.
The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Sikiru Ayedun, said the state government would construct a wall to prevent access to the river by members of the public.
“The Rauf Aregbesola administration is a responsive government that will protect the people at all times. For our administration, the masses come first,” he said.
Ayedun, who visited the river on Friday, expressed condolence to the family of the fisherman just as he advised members of the public who could not swim to stay away from the river.
