GHOST WORKERS: Plateau govt officials in EFCC’s net

SOME top government officials in Plateau State are currently being interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over their roles in the activities of some  syndicate groups behind the inflation of staff strength at the state level.
The state governor, Jonah Jang, has persistently  complained of syndicates within the state civil service behind such actrocity and defrauding the state millions of Naira on a monthly basis.
Speaking with newsmen, the State Commissioner for Information, Mr Abraham Yiljap, said as part of efforts of the government to clean the system and as well reduce the menace of ghost workers to the barest minimum, those suspected to be accomplices had been handed over to the EFCC.
The commissioner, who said EFCC had waded into the matter, said government wanted to  reposition the state civil service as an engine room of government for effective performance in the state and also to ensure that only genuine people were in the workforce.
He also said  that the state government would spend over N800 million in building  a civil service institution to train civil servants to be more productive and efficient.
Yiljab also  condemned the attack on Du Village by unknown persons, which led to the death of two people, charging the people of the state to be more vigilant and not take the relative peace in the state for granted.
Yiljab who gave the Names of those Killed as Pwajok Gyang and Davou Paul, said  government was working hard  with security operatives to ensure that lasting peace returned back to the state.
He also charged  security operatives to wake up to their responsibility at responding swiftly whenever there was an attack.
