Gunmen, soldiers clash again in Maiduguri •Gunmen attack Jang’s village



NO fewer than five persons were said to have been shot dead, while several others were hit by stray bullets the Borno state capital around Baban Layi area of Maiduguri Monday Market,  Post Office area and Lamisula ward, when gunmen, suspected to be members of  Boko Haram clashed with men of the Joint Task Force Operation Restore Order (JTF).
Sources who spoke to newsmen on Tuesday said trouble started around 3.00 p.m when some traders at the Monday Market saw  some gunmen carrying guns in two tricycles and informed JTF of possible attack on some targets.
A trader, who did not want his name in print, told the Nigerian Tribune that three of his trading partners were killed and one hit by stray bullet.
Also at the post office popular news-stand, people who survived the crossfire said they learnt that five persons lost their lives while several others were injured.
However, while confirming the incident, the spokesman of the JTF, Lieutenant-Colonel Sagir Musa, in a text massage to newsmen, said there was indeed pandemonium at Post Office and Lamisula axis of Maiduguri metropolis.
In another development, there was pandemonium at the village of Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State in the early hours of Wednesday, when some gunmen stormed a ranch there, killing two people on the spot.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that the gunmen, at about 2.00 a.m, stormed a ranch in Du village of Jos South Local Government Area and killed two people identified as Gyang Pwarjok and Davou Paul.
However, the STF, while addressing the press through its media officer, Captain Salisu Mustapha, denied that two people died in the attack, adding that men of the command only arrested nine suspects.
