Ihejirika redeploys Generals today

Gen. Ihejirika has also presented the names of officers for new posting to the Army Council.
When the names of retired officers were made known recently, some generals that had been wishing to stay longer beyond their age ranking were sent packing compulsorily as the Army Council refused their plea to stay longer.
Some forces rose up accusing the presidency of allegedly paving way for Major General Mimima to become the army chief when Ihejirika leaves, but those that know better dismissed the insinuation with a wave of the hand.
LEADERSHIP checks reveal that some generals who have godfathers have been lobbying for their cronies to get the choice brigades to handle have been making some moves but what worsened the situation is that such officers would not know their fate until the appointments are made known.
‘‘Let me tell you something, nobody knows who goes where because the chief [of army staff) is keeping the list close to his chest. if anyone tells you generals so so and so have been posted to so so so place, it is a tissue of lies. Another thing I would tell you is the new appointments would be presented to the Council tomorrow [today] and once it is approved that would be final,’’ a military source said.
Because of the military intervention in Mali where Nigeria is playing the leading role, LEADERSHIP has it on a good authority that some of the newly promoted generals would be asked to constitute his kitchen cabinet in prosecuting the war in Mali through monitoring.
