Kogi speaker in ghastly auto crash •One dead

BARELY a week after the governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada, escaped with injury  from a ghastly auto accident, which led to the death of his Aide de Camp (ADC), the Speaker of the State House of  Assembly Momoh Jimoh Lawal, was also involved in  a ghastly auto accident  with a police corporal attached to  his convoy losing his life.
An eye witness account disclosed that the accident occurred on Monday December 31.
Wada, who sustained serious injury  was just discharged from the hospital where he was receiving treatment in Abuja.
The Monday accident, according to the eye witness account,  occurred beside Osara village on the Okene—Lokoja- Abuja highway while the speaker was returning from the Christmas celebration.
The accident occurred when a  heavy duty vehicle was said to have veered from its lane and crashed into the convoy with the speaker narrowly escaping being killed.
However, a police corporal  attached to the convoy, Lamidi Akeem from Erinle in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State who was said to be injured in the accident,  later died on Wednesday morning at a private hospital in Lokoja  as a result of injuries sustained.
One of the legislators, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident but called on all Nigerians to pray for political leaders in  Kogi State saying, “Kogi is passing through a trauma.”
He said it was a thing of sadness and concern that another fatal accident  occurred barely four days after the state governor’s convoy was also involved in an accident.
