Plateau: Police intercept human head, headless corpse

In an effort to rid Plateau State, especially Jos, of criminal activities, the state police command has intercepted a human head and a headless corpse of a male adult cut into parts and  concealed in a bag and arrested a man trading in firearms.

Addressing newsmen in Jos, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Chris Olakpe, disclosed that a man, who preferred to remain anonymous, reported to the police that he discovered a bag containing a lifeless head of an unidentified person abandoned on the road opposite his house.

  According to him, de-tectives from ‘A’ Division police station also recovered a headless corpse of a male adult person cut into parts in a bag in front  of Oyin Enterprises, on the Tafawa Balewa Road, Jos, adding that the parts and the body were later identified to be one Abraham  Adukuchili Aka of Farin Gada road, Jos.

Olakpe pointed out that men of the command later raided Green Park Hotel, on the old Bukuru park, Jos, and arrested one Ebuka Obiora and Usman Sarki, who confessed in their statements and mentioned seven others as accomplices.

In another operation, the commissioner of police  said following a  tip off, the police and soldiers arrested one Adamu Ibrahim and Usman Abdullahi for trading in firearms, adding that they were arrested while soliciting for prospective buyers of an SMG riffle.

He added that the suspects, during interrogation, confessed committing the crime, adding that during a search of the house and premises of the said Abubakar, on sighting the team, escaped while one SMG riffle, one live cartridge and four live ammunition were recovered.

He, therefore, enjoined members of the public to continue to cooperate with the police and other security agencies by volunteering credible information by being vigilant and by reporting  suspicious movement and objects for prompt action to sustain the prevailing peace.
