Policeman kills wife, landlord’s wife

Tragedy struck in Mayo Belwa town in Mayo Belwa Local Government Area of Adamawa State when a police inspector allegedly shot and killed his wife and his landlord’s wife.
An eyewitness account had it that the sound of gunshots in the night of the incident made people to scamper for safety thinking it was the “usual” visit of unknown gunmen.
But, moments later, facts started emerging that it was a disagreement between the policeman and his wife that led to the incident.
Adamawa State police command has confirmed the arrest of the police officer.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state police command, DSP Mohammed Ibrahim, said the incident occurred on Wednesday night in Mayo Belwa town, headquarters of Mayo Belwa Local Government Area of the state.
He said the policeman, who was among those guarding Governor Murtala Nyako’s residence in Mayo Belwa, had a misunderstanding with his wife that night.
According to him, the man shot the wife and the wife of his landlord, who was trying to broker peace between them.
The police image maker, said the policeman was being investigated for prosecution.
