Rivers: Police still investigating suspected wife killer’s case

THE Rivers State police command said it is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing of Mrs Abigail Sebastian allegedly by her husband, Udeh Sebastian, in Ikata community, Ahoada-East Local Government Area on New Year day.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Indabawa, had told journalists in Port Harcourt during the week that the man, who allegedly attacked the deceased with a machete over a disagreement, was already in custody.
He also said that nine suspected cultists had been arrested in council area for terrorising a community, leading to the killing of a man.
But when contacted for details on the development on the death of Mrs Sebastian, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ben Ugwuegbulam (DSP), said the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) was still investigating the matter even as the suspect remained in custody.
Speaking to journalists earlier in the week on the incident, Indabawa said Udeh, following a disagreement, allegedly killed Abigail with a machete at about 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
The commissioner said Udeh was arrested and the case had been taken over by the SCID for further investigations.
The commissioner said the arrest of the suspected cultists, who allegedly killed one James Okpara in an attack on Ochiyba community, near Ikata, was carried out with the assistance of men of the Joint Task Force (JTF).
The police chief listed the names of those arrested as Godday Robinson, Nwineke Sunny, Richman Obasi, Wisdom Richard, Agi Emmanuel, Akajiaku Richard, Ogbunike Edward, Godstime Francis and ThankGod Okpara.
