Shocking story of father who slaughtered 4-month-old son •Man rapes, beheads lady

A 46-year-old herbalist, Hosea Folorunso, has been arrested by the police in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, for allegedly killing and using his four-month-old son for rituals.
The suspect was said to have slaughtered his son, Sunday Folorunso, on December 31 at about 11:55 p.m. and hurriedly buried the corpse in his compound.
Residents who saw him performing the ritual reported him to the police.
While parading the suspect before the media in Lokoja on Friday, the state’s Police Commissioner, Alhaji Mohammed Musa Katsina, said that on the 31st of December when Nigerians were expecting the New Year with joy and happiness, a herbalist at Egbe was busy perfecting plans to kill his own son for rituals.
According to him, on the fateful day around 11:55 p.m., the suspect quietly took his son, who was deep in sleep, and murdered him in a gruesome manner. He then dug a shallow grave in his compound and hurriedly buried the corpse after allegedly removing some parts of the body.
Some of the parts allegedly removed included the brain, the intestines, among others.
Alhaji Katsina said that his men laid ambush and arrested Folorunso, following a tip-off, and that after thorough investigations, he was brought to the headquarters in Lokoja for further interrogation.
The commissioner said the man had led the police to where he buried the remains of his son in his own compound.
According to him, a renowned pathologist in the state was performing  an autopsy on the corpse, and that as soon as the result of the test was ready, the suspect would be taken to court for prosecution.
Speaking on the development, the Liaison Officer 1 of Yagba West Local Government Area, Mr. Tunji Aro, said that such a thing had never happened before in the history of the area.
Aro assured newsmen and the community that adequate security measures would be put in place to forestall a recurrence. He, however, called on residents of the area to be vigilant and report any strange face or unpleasant behaviour to security agents for quick action.
Meanwhile, A former student of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, Godwin Edeko, has reportedly beheaded a girl, identified simply as Hanatu, in Rafin Yashi area of Bosso town, on the outskirts of Minna, the state capital, after allegedly raping her.
The suspect has since been arrested by the police.
Saturday Tribune gathered that Edeko lured his victim into his apartment and forcefully had sex with her. He then proceeded to cut off her head with a sharp instrument before dragging the headless body into the toilet in the apartment.
He allegedly concealed the blood-soaked head in a cement bag and made to carry it out of the compound.
Neighbours became suspicious when they saw oozing out of blood in the toilet.
An angry mob that later gathered almost lynched the suspect, but for the intervention of a community leader who rescued him and handed him over to the police.
The slain girl was said to be on a visit to her relations somewhere in Minna, from Katsina State; but the nature of her relationship with the murder suspect could not be ascertained as of press time.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Niger State command, Mr. Pius Edobor, confirmed the incident to Saturday Tribune, adding that investigation was on to establish the full identity of the slaughtered girl and her relationship with the suspect.
However, efforts to confirm the status of the suspect at the Public Affairs Department of FUT were unsuccessful as the institution’s head of Public Affairs could not be reached on telephone.
The suspect was, however, said to have been expelled by the institution’s authorities six years ago over an allegation of belonging to a cult group.
