The accident,
according to eyewitness account, happened when a tanker from Ogbomoso
axis crashed into the 18-seater commercial bus.
The Information
Officer, National Emergency Management Agency, South-West, Ibrahim
Farinloye, in a text message to our correspondent said, "A fully loaded
PMS tanker rammed over an 18-seater commercial bus at a sharp bend where
another fully loaded tanker with PMS broke down, bursting into flame.
"Only three people
escaped. We are expecting Oyo fire service to turn up. Traffic flow is
now disrupted while alternative routes will be created".
The Unit Commander,
Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogbomoso Unit, George Adedipe, who confirmed
the accident, said that the crash occurred 15 kilometres after Ogbomoso
at 8:35am on Sunday.
According to him,
"Three vehicles were involved in the crash. They are two tankers marked
XS 732 AGL and XB 476 AKK (DAF 185 belonging to Conoil) and one 18seater
bus. The 18seater bus and the tanker marked XS 732 AGL got burnt".
He added that 23
people were involved (21 men and two women). "Nine men were injured with
three killed and two trapped inside the bus.
Those injured were said to have been taken to Ebun Oluwa Clinic, Sabo, Ogbomoso while the corpses were taken to the mortuary.
