Woman Set On Fire By Boyfriend

A woman was allegedly set on fire by her boyfriend on Sunday afternoon. The incident has reportedly left the victim in critical condition.
Police were called out to the intersection of Hollister Avenue and Jennings Street when someone said they heard a woman screaming in pain. According to Silicon Valley Mercury News, officers who arrived on the scene discovered a woman who had been very badly burned. The unidentified female is said to be in her 20s.
Reports indicate that the woman had been doused with some sort of flammable liquid before she was set on fire. Authorities believe that a man the woman dated is responsible for setting her on fire.
According to NBC News, the woman quickly removed her clothes after her boyfriend allegedly set her ablaze. However, the victim still suffered severe burns on her body that hospital officials believe could be life threatening. She was reportedly rushed to St. Francis Hospital’s Burn Center for emergency treatment.
Authorities currently believe that 22-year-old Dexter Oliver is responsible for setting the woman on fire. As of this writing, the man remains at large.
The suspect has been described by police as follows:
“Oliver [is] a black man, five feet 10 inches tall and weighing 155 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red-and-white hoodie jacket, dark pajama pants with a multicolored shamrock print, with gray and red Nike tennis shoes. Oliver also has a design haircut of a fish on one side of his head, and a lighting bolt on the other side.”
The Associated Press reports that the woman may have been doused with gasoline and set on fire while she was visiting a local laundromat. Precious Craig said that, while her sister had received severe burns on her face and body, family members expect the woman to make a full recovery.
