TWO people were feared dead on Sunday afternoon, as a black Toyota
jeep with registration number Lagos BDG 594 AC fell off a bridge at the
Sawmill side of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, killing one of the
occupants and an okada rider instantly.
The victims, the Nigerian Tribune gathered, were an okada rider, with
motorcycle’s registration number Oyo BDJ 638 QA and one of the four
occupants of the car.
Eyewitnesses informed the Nigerian Tribune that the Jeep, which was
coming from Iwo road side of the expressway, had one its tyres burst,
leading to loss of control by the driver and subsequent fall off the
bridge.
It was gathered that the car was “seen somersaulting when one of its
tyres burst and fell off in-between the bridges. As it landed, it fell
on an okada rider, who was trying to lift a passenger going to Alakia
area.” The okada rider was said to have died on the spot.
Also, the Nigerian Tribune was informed that the remains of the
victims had been deposited at a mortuary, while other injured persons
were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
