Gunmen kill 2 in Plateau

THE prevailing peace in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State was tinkered with on Sunday, following the killing of two people by some unidentified gunmen.
There are, however, conflicting reports over the killing.
An account had it that the two Tarok men were killed by the Fulani as a protest to the killing of their kinsmen some time ago, while a source close to the Fulani also claimed that the deceased were shot by their fellow Tarok brothers over a minor squabble.
Assistant Secretary of Miyetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) in the council, Abdullahi Abubakar, in a telephone interview, said they suspected that the two Tarok men were killed by their kinsmen, following a misunderstanding during a Tarok Day celebration.
The  Special Task Force (STF), through its spokesman, Captain Salisu Mustapha, however, said the two victims were shot on top of a motorcycle on Wase-Kadarko Road, adding that the gunmen most probably laid an ambush on the victims, shot them and escaped.
Mustapha would neither identify the dead nor the attackers, but he disclosed that two people had been arrested in connection with the incident.
