Kidnappers release British expatriate

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Umaru Manko

A British expatriate, Christopher Paige, kidnapped in Lagos last Saturday, has been released by his captors.
The PUNCH on Tuesday reported that the victim was abducted at his Victoria Island home and that his family had entered into negotiation with the kidnappers
It was learnt that members of his family were able to secure his release on Tuesday after allegedly paying a ransom.
A senior police officer, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said the victim returned home unharmed.
He added that police officers attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad were working hard to apprehend the culprits.
“On Tuesday, about 11pm, the victim was released by the kidnappers.
“The family had independently negotiated a ransom with them but I cannot disclose how much was paid. We are however on the trail of the kidnappers,” he said.
The identity of the expatriate had initially been shrouded in controversy while the Federal Government claimed ignorance of the kidnapping and the victim’s identity.
