Man rapes daughters, 13 and 7 years, defiles one year old granddaughter

*slams hammer on wife for raising objection
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man who raped his 13-year-old daughter and seven-year-old daughter, then defiled his one-year-old granddaughter. When his wife complained, he hit her with a hammer.
The 43 year old wife of the suspect, Margret, who reported the case to the police, said that the matter started in 2007, when her first daughter, who was then 13 year old, complained that her father, Mr. Sylvester Ehijere was always sleeping with her whenever their mother was not around.
One revealed once when she complained and quarrelled about his behaviour, he had slammed hammer on her head. She was lucky to have escaped with her life.
``That night my daughter had woken me to ask if it was right for her father to be sleeping with her, I was so shocked that I couldn’t respond to her question. Instead I went to confront my husband. He confessed that it was true but promised never to repeat such barbaric act again and pleaded for forgiveness.” She said.
According to her, she later caught him red-handed several times after he made the promised. This she said in tears made her to report the case to his family but rather that take him up on the issue, they did nothing. She said this made her to move out his house and into another apartment she rented.
She however had to return to her husband’s house in 2011 when both family members met and came to plead that he has turn a new leaf and  would never continue again.
“After a while I noticed he had started committing the same atrocity with our second daughter. I monitored and caught him but this time he threatened me with hammer and never stopped his barbaric act.”
On why she didn’t call the attention of the family the second time, she answered that, his family had never really accepted her as their wife and this made it difficult for them to reason with her.
The suspect’s bubble bust on the 13th of March, when Margret came back from market and her neighbours accosted her to hurry her footsteps so as to find out why her one-year and three months old grandchild had been crying and screaming since the baby came back from day care.
She said she was initially surprised because she had begged the day care woman not to take her last – born, a seven year old girl and her grandchild home till she comes for them so that the suspect wouldn’t be alone in the house with the seven year old.
On getting home, Margret examined all parts of the baby to check maybe the baby had fallen and injured herself but eventually decided to bath for the baby to refresh her.  It was when she removed her pampers that she noticed clots of blood from the baby’s private part.
The spokesperson for the command, DSP Ngozi Braide, disclosed to journalists that the man, who claimed to be a truck driver, allegedly slept with his two direct daughters and his only grand-child.
She said that medical reports from Isolo General Hospital indicated that the girls had been deflowered, stressing that the doctor requested a comprehensive examination on the children, with a view to ascertain their HIV/AIDS status.
``This is a serious case against children. If he is found guilty, he may face life imprisonment. We have concluded our investigation; the man will be charge to court on Thursday,’’ Braide said.
The suspect claimed that his wife and children conspired against him for not just cause, that he would be wasting his time saying anything because nobody would believe him.
He claimed that the baby was brought from the school crying, stressing that he had nothing to do with his children private parts.
