Millions of naira carted away by armed robbers from Taraba secretariat

MILLIONS of naira were carted away by armed robbers, who invaded Taraba State secretariat in the early hours of  Monday.

Investigation shows that the armed robbers, who were 20 in number, broke into the state secretariat with dangerous weapons carted away undisclosed amount of money and some office materials, while the operation lasted several hours without any interruption.

Though sources at the state secretariat told the Nigerian Tribune that the armed robbers tied six of the security men, who were on duty before carrying out their operation.

The ministries affected included  health, justice, information and office of the secretary to the state government and general services.

Some civil servants who spoke with the Nigerian Tribune on condition of anonymity expressed sadness over the incident and called for proper investigation.

The Head of Service, Mr Augustine Bazing, was not on seat when called for his reaction.

The Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr Amos Olaoye, was also not available for comments at time of filling this report.
