The Ekiti State Police Command has killed three suspected armed robbers and arrested no fewer than 15.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Victor Babayemi, who said this in an interview with our correspondent in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday said the arrest was made in the past two weeks.
He said the command stepped up security to combat the rising wave of criminal activities in the state. While assuring the people of their safety, the PPRO warned that the police would not relent in his effort to ensure that the peaceful atmosphere in  the state was not destroyed.
Reacting to terror unleashed on the people of the state by some gangs of criminals, the PPRO said the police had beefed up security across the 16 local government areas in the state.
He said, “We have stepped up security in the state. We are on top of the situation. The criminal elements are being flushed out because our men are daily smoking them out of their hideouts.
“We have arrested 15 armed robbers in the last two weeks and we have killed three; those were the ones who engaged our teams in gun duels. One of the armed robbers was killed in Ado Ekiti, his partner was arrested. Another one was shot along Ado Ekiti Ilawe Road and he died on the way to hospital.”
