Police arrest ex Nigerian US army officer over brother’s death

Abiodun Allen
The State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti Yaba, Lagos State, Homicide section, has arrested an America based ex- Nigerian US army, who murdered his younger brother.
Detectives said that the suspect, Abiodun Allen, stabbed his brother, Wale Allen, to death while he was sleeping. He was dragged the corpse out of the apartment, making for a burial site, when someone sighted him and called the police.
Abiodun was serving as an army officer in the America army but was kicked out and later deported over drug related offences.
When he returned to Nigeria, he went to stay with his brother Wale Allen. But the relationship was a sore one, as both were said to have always been at logger heads. Homicide detectives said they were yet to determine the cause of the conflict between the two brothers, before the eventual demise of Wale.
Abiodun, on the other hand, insisted that he killed his brother in self-defence. He said he was sleeping when he saw someone coming towards him with torchlight, machete and a broken bottle. He soon discovered the person was his brother. When his brother allegedly wanted to stab him, he struggled with him, dispossessed of his weapons and used one of the weapons and stabbed Wale. The victim bled to death.
Police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, said: “They both live at Awori-Ota. They are brothers. Abiodun killed his brother, Wale, while he was sleeping. After killing the victim, he decided to bury the corpse. As he was dragging the corpse, someone saw him and alerted police. Investigations revealed that Wale was sleeping when the suspect attacked him. He stabbed the victim in the stomach and neck.”
Since the incident, Abiodun had been behaving like a mad man. If questions are put across to him, he gives incoherent and uncoordinated answers. His words are full of sounds, but signifying nothing.
Police are working on the theory that Abiodun is suddenly feigning madness in order to escape a prison sentence.
