THE
House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts, on Tuesday,
summoned the Comptroller General of Customs Services, Mr Abdullahi
Dikko, to appear before it to answer multi-million naira queries raised
against the Customs by the Office of Auditor-General of the Federation
from 2007 to 2010.
The committee, led by Honourable Solomon
Adeola, took turn in lambasting the customs boss for his refusal to
appear before the committee to defend the service over allegation of
financial mismanagement, as reported by the office of the
Auditor-General of the Federation.
Chairman of the committee,
however, ruled that the Customs boss must appear before it on April 10
to defend the various allegation against the service.
A member of
the committee, Honourable Osita Honourable, said “we are not happy, the
customs boss cannot be above board. The fact that the CG of Customs is
controlling revenue and in charge of too much money does not make him
above board.”
