It was gathered that Shegman of Twidco El-Gado Nigeria, defrauded one Mr. Kingsley Nwoko of Total Staff Multi-purpose Co-operative Society of N107 million, by promising importation business of fish into Nigeria from overseas, which does not exist.

The Total Staff Multi-purpose Society Limited is situated at No. 4, Afribank Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The fraudster was introduced to the Co-operative Society in 2009 by Ex-Secretary, Mrs. Nkechi Nwoko, a partner in business of the Principal offender.

The accused person received the money with First Bank Draft No. 791413 dated March 14, 2009 and valued at N28, 000,000.00.
It was given and received in Lagos.  The second First Bank Draft No. 17221288, dated March 13, 2009, valued atN28, 000,000.00.  The interest accruing for the capital borrowed from Zenith Bank is now N49, 000, 000.00., making a total of N107, 000,000.00, indebtedness by the fraudster.

When the suspect was arrested and interrogated, he admitted committing the crime and pleaded for grace of extension of time to offset the debt.

The suspect was released on Police Administrative bail.
The suspect went to Abuja Federal High Court and sued the Inspector-General of Police, CP Special Fraud Unit and CSP Saadat & Team in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/824/2012 filed on December 17, 2012.

In reply to the buying of time suit by the Plaintiff, the Learned Police Counsel, Barrister E. A. Frank raised the fundamental issue of jurisdiction on February 4, 2013, that the Honourable Federal High Court of Abuja lacks jurisdiction to entertain the Applicant/Respondent’s Motion as cause of action took place albini tio in Lagos, not Abuja and thereby renders the Federal High Court, Abuja incompetent to hear the Suit and that same should be struck out with cost.

In his ruling on the Suit on February 21, 2013, the Honourable Justice Adetokunbo Ademola Jnr. of Court 6, FHC Abuja struck out the Suit with N30,000.00, cost against the Plaintiff.
