Army destroys tanker filled with stolen diesel

Soldiers attached to the 4 Brigade Garrison/Operation Pulo Shield, Sector 1, Benin, Edo State, on Saturday destroyed a tanker containing 33, 000 litres diesel seized from pipeline vandals around Utesi, in Ikpoba-Okka local government, Edo State.
Leader of the team, Capt. Ogbemudi Osawe, said the driver of the tanker, in a bid to escape, hit the road and overturned the vehicle, marked LAGOS XQ 393-EKY.
He said, “During our patrol  around 4am, we came across the tanker and the driver. In an attempt to escape, he hit the rough road and overturned the tanker.”
Osawe said the driver fled into the bush and abandoned the tanker.
He said the effort of the sector under the leadership of Brig.-Gen. Pat Akem was already yielding fruits. He advised vandals to steer clear of the state.
