Gunmen kill man, shoot another in Ogun

There was pandemonium on Thursday night around Okesuna junction in Ota, Ogun State, when one  yet-to-be identified person was killed and another was shot by gunmen.
The incident, which occurred at about 9:00 p.m, created panic as the gunmen shot sporadically into the air to scare passersby.
The unidentified deceased person appeared to be the target of the gunmen, but the other victim had resisted them from using his vehicle to escape from the scene of the incident, when he was shot.
A witness, who simply identified himself as Taiwo, while speaking with Saturday Tribune, stated that a gang of four men  had trailed the deceased person to “Fan Yogo”  when the incident happened.
“They blocked his vehicle by the driver’s  side and he escaped through the passenger’s side and jumped out of the car but was unlucky as he ran into a locked pedestrian gate,” the witness said.
The witness added that  the gunmen walked up to him and shot him at close range and went back  without picking anything from his vehicle
The gunmen, in their bid to escape, stopped a vehicle and the driver reportedly removed the key from the ignition and attempted to run away when one of the robbers shot him in the buttock.
Police from the Special Anti Robbery Squad  attached to Sango police station arrived at the scene and took away the corpse of the slain man, while the injured victim was taken to an unnamed hospital.
The image maker in charge of the state police command, Muyiwa Adejobi, while speaking with Saturday Tribune, stated that the deceased was in a car and attempted to escape from  the armed men after the security in his vehicle had been demobilised.
A senior police officer at Sango police station added that the police had begun investigation on the murder.
