Jail Break: We Lost 45 Officers To Boko Haram Attacks – Prisons Boss



No fewer than 45 prisons wardens, including senior officers, have so far been murdered during jailbreaks in various prisons formations by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
The comptroller general of prisons, Mr Zakari Ohino Ibrahim who disclosed this during an interactive session with newsmen on the security situation in the country, said the wardens were ambushed and killed while on official duty.
While expressing regrets that inadequate workforce and continuous budgetary short falls have to a large extent stalled effective operation of the service, Mr Ibrahim revealed that his administration has been able to device strategies to contain cases of jail break.
  The prisons boss who made a passionate appeal to the National Assembly to  pass the bill seeking the review of prisons law as part of effort to address congestion in the prisons, revealed that  only  69 not 6,000 babies are housed in Nigeria
 
Meanwhile, following the killings of several people in Daura by unknown gunmen last week, the House of Representatives yesterday called on the inspector-general of police, Mohammed Abubakar, to establish a counter-terrorism unit in the Daura Emirate to enable the police effectively discharge their duties in the area.
