Police discover explosives, drag landlord, tenant to court

Plateau State Police Command has recovered a consignment of  Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) materials and dragged the landlord  in whose house it was found as well as one other person  before the Federal High Court for criminal conspiracy and act to wit terrorism.
According to count one of the charges against the two suspects,  Alhaji Hassan Mohammed and Bala Abudulkadir, they were alleged to have committed  illegal act to wit: act of terrorism by conspiring and renting a room in which explosives and other dangerous materials were kept without being able to give account of the materials, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 517 of the criminal code law Cap C 38 LFN 2004.
The count 2 of the charge also reads as follows: “That you committed an illegal act to wit: act of terrorism when you rented a room in which explosives and other dangerous materials  were kept to which you cannot account of and thereby committed an offence contrary to section and punishable under section 4 (1) of terrorism (prevention) Act 2011.”
Saturday Tribune learnt that the  landlord, Hassaan Mohammed, and Bala Abudulkadir were apprehended following information received by the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Olakpe, that a shop in Angwan Rogo area of Jos North Local Government Area of the state was full of explosive devices.
It was gathered that the shop was broken into and large quantities of IED materials were found as the shop was being used by hoodlums as armoury/factory. The occupant of the shop, simply identified as Musa, was never known by the landlord of the shop.
Saturday Tribune findings revealed that the tenant, simply identified as Musa, who is now on the run, rented the shop for the purpose of repair of electronics and GSM handsets.
