Two killed in Kaduna robbery attack

TWO private security men were on Saturday killed in a robbery attack at a major fish depot along Zaria Road off Lagos Street in the Kaduna metropolis.
The robbery attack lasted for 30 minutes, an eyewitness said.
According to the eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, the robbers came in Volkswagen Golf car, went straight to the CIC Fishing Depot where they shot sporadically to scare away residents and those that were at the vicinity to buy fish.
In the melee, a private security man who attempted to shut the gate was shot and died on the spot while his colleague who in an attempt to call the police with his cell phone was also shot. He later died.
The robbers, our correspondent gathered, carted away an unspecified amount of money from sales and zoomed off towards the Kaduna western part of the state.
The eyewitness said men of the State security outfit, Operation Yaki, that arrived later, gave the robbers a hot chase.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of Kaduna State Police Command, Aminu Lawan, (DSP) said the command had already launched a manhunt for the robbers, while investigation was ongoing.
