Man arraigned for stealing N12m phones

A 29-year-old salesman, Tunde Olajuwon, has been arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court, Lagos for allegedly stealing phones valued N12m.
It was alleged that Olajuwon, with other accomplices, had looted his master’s phone shop at Computer Village, Ikeja.
The counts read in part, “That you Tunde Olajuwon, ‘male’ and others now at large, on the 16th day of April 2013 at about 1.30am did conspire together to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.”
The police prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi, argued that the defendant should be remanded in custody given the severity of his crime.
However, the presiding magistrate, Ms. Osunsanmi, granted Olajuwon bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until July 17, 2013.
