One
person was feared dead while three others sustained injury when a three story building
in Mushin area of Lagos State caved in after yesterday’s heavy down pour.
The
building which it was gathered, belonged to one man identified as “baba Jeba” was
said to be over a 100 years old.
Immediately
the building collapsed, sympathizers tried rescuing the trapped victims under
the rumbles of the building before rescue teams got to the scene of the
incident.
It
was gathered that after about thirty minutes of rescue operation, a year old
baby girl whose identity is yet unknown was brought out dead from the rumbles
of the collapsed building.
Eye
witnesses’ account revealed that the two children of one Mrs Adikwuru, also an
occupant of the collapsed building are said to be in a critical condition at
the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, (LUTH) Idi-Araba.
Also
rescued from the collapsed building was a 25 year old lady whose identity is
yet to be ascertained.
An
eye witness who pleaded for anonymity said although the landlord of the house
who he identified as “baba Jeba” is late, but the children, grandchildren and
great grandchildren who are beneficiaries of the house neglected the
maintenance of the building as they ony come to collect house rent from the
tenants and leave.
Meanwhile the area has been cordoned off by
rescue workers from different agencies of government
