Police arrest doctor, others for mutilating baby’s corpse

The police in Ogun State have arrested a medical doctor and three suspected ritualists for mutilating the corpse of a 13-month-old baby, Kingsley Ole, in a hospital in Sango Ota,  Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government of the state.
The three suspected ritualists whose names were given by the police as Oguntunde Opeyemi, Olaide Adeyanju and Temitope Muraina were said to have connived with Dr. Babawale Joshua to mutilate the corpse.  Kingsley  died in Ajike Medical Centre, owned by Joshua on Saturday.
The victim’s father, Mr. Obinna Ole, said his son was on admission at the hospital to receive treatment for an ailment before he died around 7.30pm.
But when Ole went to claim the corpse, he discovered that the two eyes, tongue, lips, two ears, penis, nails and the left hand-vein had been mutilated.
The Ogun State police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, said policemen attached to the Ota Divisional headquarters led by the DPO, Gabriel Dibie, moved to the scene and arrested the suspects.
Adejobi added that the remains of the baby had been deposited at the Ifo General Hospital for autopsy, while the state Commissioner of Police, Ikhemefuna Okoye, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, to take over the case.
