The three suspected ritualists whose
names were given by the police as Oguntunde Opeyemi, Olaide Adeyanju and
Temitope Muraina were said to have connived with Dr. Babawale Joshua to
mutilate the corpse. Kingsley died in Ajike Medical Centre, owned by
Joshua on Saturday.
The victim’s father, Mr. Obinna Ole,
said his son was on admission at the hospital to receive treatment for
an ailment before he died around 7.30pm.
But when Ole went to claim the corpse,
he discovered that the two eyes, tongue, lips, two ears, penis, nails
and the left hand-vein had been mutilated.
The Ogun State police spokesman, Muyiwa
Adejobi, said policemen attached to the Ota Divisional headquarters led
by the DPO, Gabriel Dibie, moved to the scene and arrested the suspects.
Adejobi added that the remains of the
baby had been deposited at the Ifo General Hospital for autopsy, while
the state Commissioner of Police, Ikhemefuna Okoye, has ordered the
State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, to take
over the case.
