Security guard hangs self in Ogun

A 67-year-old night guard, Matthew Isidahume, on Monday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, committed suicide by hanging himself inside a church.
Isidahmue was said to be one of the night guards employed by the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Ago-Ika in Abeokuta North Local Government Area.
Our correspondent gathered that members of the church, who had converged for the Morning Prayer session, discovered the corpse of the deceased dangling where he had hanged himself.
A member of the Church Council, Adekunle Adegoke, said members who came for the Morning Prayer meeting, met the gate locked and had to wait for about 30 minutes thinking the late Isidahume had gone to the toilet.
Adegoke added that when the guard was still nowhere to be found, a young boy was lifted across the fence to find out what had really happened to him.
He further explained that the boy later returned and gave them the sad news that the night guard had hanged himself.
“If you look closely you will see his footprints on the generator which showed that he climbed, tied  something on his neck and then jumped,” he said.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said three of the night guards were supposed to be on duty as of the time the incident happened.
Adejobi, a deputy superintendent of police, further stated that the deceased left a suicide note which was now assisting the police in their investigation. He added that the command would do a thorough job in order to get to the root of the matter.
