Federal judiciary workers begin strike Monday

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has directed all federal judiciary workers to commence a strike on Monday over the non-implementation of the consolidated salary structure.
A communique calling for the strike was jointly signed by JUSUN National President, Marwan Mustapha, and General Secretary, Mr Issah Adetola, and issued in Abuja on Friday.
The union called for the strike over the non-implementation of the Consolidated Salary Structure for Judiciary Workers (CONJUSS).
JUSUN had on February 5 given a 21-day strike notice to the Federal Government over the demand.
It said that unless steps were taken towards implementing the CONJUSS by midnight of March 10, the union would have no choice but to shut all federal courts.
“In view of the non-compliance with the ultimatum issued, the Special Emergency National Delegates Conference in session hereby directs that all federal courts be shut down indefinitely with effect from Monday, 11 March 2013,” it said.
The communiqué listed the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and the National Industrial Court as the affected courts.
It further listed the Judicial Service Committee, Abuja, as the other institution to be affected.
