Newborn’s father accuses hospital of switching baby

TWO health workers attached to a private clinic in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, are currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Osun State Police Command, over an allegation that they exchanged a newborn baby belonging to one Nurudeen Semia.
Sunday Tribune gathered that Semia gave birth to a set of twins prematurely in the private hospital located along old Ikirun road, Osogbo.
While one of the twin babies, confirmed to be males by doctors in the clinic, died, the other baby was referred to the Intensive Care Unit clinic where these two suspects were employees.
However, a new twist was introduced to the matter on Wednesday, March 6, when the father of the twin babies, Ibrahim Gbadebo, alleged that his baby boy had been exchanged for a baby girl.
As a result of the allegation, medical activities in the hospital had reportedly been brought to a standstill as one of the doctors in the hospital (names withheld) is now on the run.
The Osun State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Folasade Odoro, confirmed the matter, assuring the people of the state that the matter would be meticulously and promptly attended to, as police had commenced moves to apprehend the doctor who is now on the run.
She added that the two nurses attached to the intensive care unit of the clinic were helping the police to get an insight into the matter.
